Chandelier is not only a kind of light fixture, but a symbol of wealth and enjoyment. Nowadays, chandelier is not only used in restaurant and hotel, but also been taken into homes. More and more people take chandeliers into their dining room, living room, kitchen and even bedroom. So do you like chandelier? Would you like to choose an ornate chandelier into your living room? Now I’d like to talk something about how to choose chandeliers from size.

Determine the correct diameter. Measure the length and width of the room in feet, and add those two numbers together. For example, if your room is 8 feet wide by 12 feet long, the sum is 20 feet. Change that number to inches and you will get a number that works for the diameter of your chandelier. In this case, a chandelier with a diameter of 20 inches would work well in an 8-foot by 12-foot room. For a dining room, the chandelier should have a diameter around 12 inches less than the table is wide.

Measure the length. The taller the ceiling, the taller the chandelier can be. A foyer chandelier should hang about 7 feet off the floor, measuring from the bottom of the chandelier. For a chandelier suspended above a dining room table, there should be around 30 inches from the bottom of the chandelier to the tabletop for a dining room with an 8-foot ceiling.

If the room is smaller than 10' by 10', a 17" to 20" diameter chandelier would be the right size.
If the room is about 12' x 12', a 26" or 27" chandelier would look right.
If the room is about 14' x 14', choose a 24" to 36" chandelier.
A chandelier should hang about 30" from the surface of the table to insure no bumped heads and good illumination.
A chandelier should be about 12" narrower than the width of the table over which it hangs.
Total wattage of all bulbs should be 200 watts to 400 watts to provide sufficient light.
Anyway, a proper size chandelier will light up your room, on the opposite, an unsuitable size will have a bad effect.
